"Jazz In The Park" 2011

Congratulations to the DGN and DGS Jazz bands for a terrific "Jazz In The Park" concert tonight! All five bands performed with energy and terrific musicianship.

D99 Orchestra Concert - Wednesday, May 25, 2011 @ 7:00 PM

The District 99 Orchestra will present their Spring Concert on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 7:00 PM in the Auditorium at South High School in Downers Grove. In addition to featuring senior soloists Melissa Vos and Nikki Mihelich, the ensembles will perform music from the cinema. The evening will conclude with a "studio orchestra" setting of music from Star Wars coordinated with a video presentation. For a myriad of reasons, this is a performance you'll want to attend - check it out!

DGN Band Banquet 2011

A record number of band members and family attended the 2011 DGN Band Banquet. Much appreciation is shared with the student Band Board helpers for decorating the banquet hall this afternoon and to the Music Booster parents who organized the dinner and raffle.

Congratulations to ALL the students honored this evening ... especially the Class of 2011!

Band Banquet Tonight!

We are just a couple hours away from the 2011 Band Banquet. We are looking forward to celebrating with everyone tonight!

Graduation Concert Honors Class of 2011 & Maria Ward

Congratulations to the members of the A Cappella Choir, and the Wind Ensemble, for an incredible concert tonight in the Clarence Johnson Auditorium. Both ensembles, as well as senior soloists Kirsten Keller (flute) and Brandon Broholm (tuba) were performed with exquisite musicianship.

A special thank-you is extended to our Principal, Mrs. Maria Ward, for serving as guest-narrator on "Peter and the Wolf."

The combined forces of both the choir and the band brought the concert to a close as they performed Aaron Copland's "Promise of Living", and the North High Alma Mater.

Tonight's performance of the Alma Mater was dedicated to Mrs. Ward, upon the occasion of her retirement. Reflecting on Mrs. Ward's contributions to DGN, Fine Arts Department Chairperson Brayer Teague shared with the audience, "We quickly learned, as both a faculty and as a student body, that Mrs. Ward's number one concern and focus was helping students be imminently successful in every endeavor. Success in the classroom; success on the concert stage; success on the athletic field. Thinking creatively – as well as studying best practice in education and insisting that our school model these practices – has been the hallmark of Mrs. Ward's consistent and steady leadership for the past six years. She has pushed our faculty and students to achieve at the highest levels, and as a result North High School has realized unprecedented successes – at a local and national level – during her tenure."

Congratulations, Mrs. Ward, and all of the student musicians who performed so beautifully this evening.

Celebrate the Class of 2011 at the Graduation Concert!

Students and faculty are busily preparing this week for the annual 'Graduation Concert', which will be held on Thursday, May 19, at 7:00 pm in the Clarence Johnson Auditorium.

Senior soloists Brandon Broholm (tuba) and Kirsten Keller (flute) will be featured, along with dozens of members of the Class of 2011.  Don't miss this terrific musical treat!

Jazz Ensemble plays for IASA Meeting

Congratulations (and thank you) to the members of the DGN Jazz Ensemble for their performance this morning at the Illinois Association of School Administrators meeting in Bloomingdale, IL.  The band sounded terrific and and received many ovations from those in attendance.  Thank you to the Jazz Ensemble for getting up extra-early this morning to represent DGN and District 99 in such a professional and musical manner.

Spring Band Concert

Congratulations to the members of the Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, and Symphonic Band for a wonderful Spring Band Concert! Each ensemble performed with great attention to detail and musical nuance. It was an exciting concert for all in attendance!

A special 'kudos' is extended to Kevin Gupana (senior oboe soloist) as well as all the members of the Class of 2011 who performed their final concert with the DGN Bands tonight.

Spring Art Show - Video Walk Through

A packed house was witness tonight to an amazing Choral Showcase, featuring music from Glee. Congratulations to the members of the DGN Choirs, the instrumentalists in the Pit Band, and staff members Mrs. Beth O'Riordan, Dr. Frank Piekarz, and Mrs. Pattie Barnes, for their part in putting together this sonic and visual treat.

D99 Orchestra Banquet

Tonight students, family and faculty from DGN and DGS came together to celebrate the successes of the 2010-2011 District 99 Orchestra. A special congratulations is extended to the Class of 2011 for their four years of musical dedication!

DGN Artists Honored at the Fremd 4 x 5 Show

Congratulations to DGN Visual Art students who were honored this evening in the Fremd High School "4x5" Exhibition. Over 40 schools from the Chicago region participated in this the 12th annual 4x5 show.

Three North High School student artists were honored with awards tonight:
