Muriel Anderson Performs at DGN!

Our Guitar 1 Class was excited to welcome DGN Alumn and fingerpicking guitar champion Muriel Anderson today! Ms. Anderson  took time from her schedule to share her music with our students in anticipation for her Annual Saturday After Thanksgiving Concert, to be held this Saturday, November 29th at 8 pm in the Clarence Johnson Auditorium.

Jazz Ensemble Swings at Chicago's Jazz Showcase!

Congratulations to the members of the DGN Jazz Ensemble on an exceptional performance tonight at Chicago's famed Jazz Showcase.

Founded in 1947, the Jazz Showcase has played host to every major figure in modern jazz history.  It was an honor for our DGN musicians to have the opportunity to perform on this stage and to open for Mark Colby and Frank Caruso.  Well done Jazz Ensemble!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DGN Jazz Ensemble @ The Jazz Showcase Monday Night!

The DGN Jazz Ensemble is making a return trip to Chicago's famed "Jazz Showcase" on Monday, November 24.  Beginning at 7:30 PM, the band will open for Mark Colby and Frank Caruso.

Tickets are $10 at the door.  The Jazz Showcase is located at 806 S. Plymouth Ct., Chicago, IL 60605.

We hope you will join us at the Jazz Showcase to support our DGN musicians and experience jazz inside one of the most iconic jazz clubs in the nation.

DGN & Herrick Band

DGN and Herrick Band students joined forces this evening in support of the Bloom's Angels Fundraiser / Herrick vs. Jefferson Basketball game.

Thanks to all the DGN Pep Band members who came out tonight to assist in this effort. Great job!

The Fine Arts Department proudly congratulates the ILMEA All-District musicians who performed beautifully tonight at Lincoln-Way West High School.

DGN All District Musicians are at Lincoln-Way West High School this afternoon preparing for tonight's ILMEA All-District Music Festival.

Congratulations to the 36 DGN musicians who are performing with the All-District Band, Choir and Orchestra.

Don't Dream and Drive

Senior Claire Kozik's award winning artwork, recognized by the Illinois Tollway for the 2015 Illinois Tollway Map Contest.  This year's theme captures the importance of staying alert behind the wheel: "Tired Driving is Distracted Driving."

DGN Artist Honored by Illinois Tollway

Congratulations to DGN Fine Arts student Claire Kozik for being recognized as a finalist in the 2015 Illinois Tollway Map Cover Art Contest.

Over 9,000 votes were cast by Illinois citizens, and the four visual art students with the highest vote totals were awarded finalist status. Claire's 3rd place artwork will be featured in exhibition across the state, and today's announcement included prize money from sponsor Blick Art Materials.

North High School is proud of Claire's artistic achievement and congratulates her, and her teacher Mr. Marty Voelker, on this prestigious honor.

2014 DGN Band Invitational a Sonic Success!

Concert patrons were treated to a fabulous display of student musical achievement tonight at North High.  Members of the DGN Concert Band and DGN Wind Ensemble captivated the attention of tonight's audience with exemplary musicianship and passionate interpretations of compelling literature.  

A special congratulations is extended to the Herrick Middle School Band - directed by Jonathan Ball - who were our guests this year and opened tonight's concert.  Great job Herrick!

Be sure to come back to DGN on Thursday night this week to hear the DGN Symphonic Band, DGN Jazz Lab Band, and DGN Jazz Ensemble. The concert begins at 7 PM in the Clarence Johnson Auditorium.
