D99 Orchestra Concert - Wednesday, May 25, 2011 @ 7:00 PM

The District 99 Orchestra will present their Spring Concert on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 7:00 PM in the Auditorium at South High School in Downers Grove. In addition to featuring senior soloists Melissa Vos and Nikki Mihelich, the ensembles will perform music from the cinema. The evening will conclude with a "studio orchestra" setting of music from Star Wars coordinated with a video presentation. FINE ARTS DEPARTMENT PHILOSOPHY

The philosophy of the North High School Fine Arts Department faculty is to offer students a well-rounded curricular experience that includes exposure to genres of music, theatre, and visual art in a wide variety of creative settings. Program goals that serve as tenets for the North High School Fine Arts Department faculty are: To provide a productive and cooperative learning environment in which students of various backgrounds and ability levels may learn to achieve outstanding artistic results; To intentionally study music, theatre and visual art from cultures and communities that have been historically under-represented; To engage students in a journey toward artistic and personal success at the highest level; To develop in young people the appreciation, discrimination, analysis, and participation skills necessary to become lifelong consumers of the arts.
