Students Gear Up for DGN's Holiday Mosaic!

Student artists and musicians at Downers Grove North are gearing up for the annual Holiday Mosaic.

The Holiday Mosaic Concert will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2010 in the Clarence Johnson Auditorium of North High School.  To accommodate the expected capacity audiences, there will be two performances for community members to choose from: 5:30 and 8:00 pm.  Each concert will feature the band, choir and District 99 orchestra, as well as a variety of chamber music ensembles.  The concerts, which are presented in a continuous format, will last approximately one hour.

The Opening Reception of the Holiday Mosaic Art Show will be at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 in the North High Main Street Lobby.  Community members are encouraged to view student visual art at this time, and throughout the week.

Admission to both events is free, and the public is cordialy invited to attend.

This is the 14th annual 'Holiday Mosaic' at North High, which annually features over 500 student musicians and visual artists presenting works for an anticipated audience of just over 2,000 community members.

As always, the evening will conclude with a performance of Handel's Hallelujah!, a tradition in the community of Downers Grove since 1929.  But this year, students and audience members will be provided with a special holiday sonic treat - guest artist Sam Stryke. Styke last performed in District 99 in December of 2008. This year audience members will get to hear a taste of Stryke's newest release titled Joy to the World: A Symphony Pops Christmas. Stryke will perform with the District 99 Orchestra, and, with the District 99 Orchestra and Combined North High Choirs.

For more information about this performance, or about DGN Fine Arts, contact Brayer Teague at: bteague@csd99.org.

Mosaic Concert Preparations

Preparations are in full-gear for the 2009 Mosaic Concert, which will be held on Tuesday, December 8th.  This annual celebration of the holiday season will be offered twice: first at 5:30 PM, and finally at 8:00 PM.  The concert (and visual art show) are free events and open to the general public.  There are unconfirmed reports there will be a guest-appearance by a rather jolly man dressed in red.  You won't want to miss it!
