D99/Woodridge Public Library Show Opens Tonight! @Dist_99 @WoodridgePL

150 Visual Art students from District 99 are being featured in a public art exhibit hosted by the Woodridge Public Library. Tonight's Artist/Awards Reception (6 - 7:30 PM) is free and open to the public. Come meet these outstanding art students - and their dedicated teachers - at the Woodridge Public Library.

If you are unable to attend this evening, the work will be available to view during normal operating hours through the end of April.

The Fine Arts Departments of Downers Grove North and South High Schools extend our appreciation to the Woodridge Public Library for hosting this show in their beautiful facility.

FINE ARTS DEPARTMENT PHILOSOPHY

The philosophy of the North High School Fine Arts Department faculty is to offer students a well-rounded curricular experience that includes exposure to genres of music, theatre, and visual art in a wide variety of creative settings. Program goals that serve as tenets for the North High School Fine Arts Department faculty are: To provide a productive and cooperative learning environment in which students of various backgrounds and ability levels may learn to achieve outstanding artistic results; To intentionally study music, theatre and visual art from cultures and communities that have been historically under-represented; To engage students in a journey toward artistic and personal success at the highest level; To develop in young people the appreciation, discrimination, analysis, and participation skills necessary to become lifelong consumers of the arts.
