Churchill's Great Grandson to Present Official Invitation to DGN Band

The Past Lord Mayor of Westminster, Duncan Sandys - great-grandson of Sir Winston Churchill - will be on campus today to extend an official invitation for the DGN Trojan Marching Band to perform in the 2019 London New Year's Day Parade.

The official Invitation Ceremony, which includes a performance of the DGN Trojan Marching Band, will be live-streamed at 12:00 PM (CST) on the DGN Fine Arts Department YouTube Channel. Tune in HERE.

"Music Moves Us" - D99/D58 2017 Fall Concert

This evening more than 200 student musicians from four schools and two districts gathered to celebrate music as the District 99 Orchestra sponsored the "Music Moves Us" concert.  The repertoire during the concert celebrated dance music from nearly one dozen different cultures, highlighted by student program notes and slides to highlight the meaning of the music for the patrons.  The capacity crowd in the auditorium departed with a palpable enthusiasm for the success of the concert, both in the diversity of repertoire and in the fabulous performances by all the student musicians.

Thanks to the O'Neill Middle School Orchestra, Julie Spring, director, and the Herrick Middle School Orchestra, Madeline Fiene, director, for their significant sonic contributions to this performance.
Thanks also to D99 Orchestra director Jennifer Mullen for envisioning and planning such a collaborative event.  Special thanks to Mr. Dan O'Connell for leading the District 99 Orchestras with artistic grace and elegance during the preparation of this event.

District 99/District 58 Orchestra Concert - TUESDAY NIGHT!

Join us in the North High School Auditorium on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 7:00 PM to hear the combined orchestras from District 58 and District 99 present "Music Moves Us," a concert themed around dance.  Admission is free and the public is cordially invited to attend!

DGN Musicians Earn 46 ILMEA All-District Honors

Student musicians from Downers Grove North High School earned an impressive 46 placements, by competitive audition, to the 2017 Illinois Music Education Association District Band, Choir, Orchestra , Jazz Band and Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Auditions were held on Wednesday, October 11 at Carl Sandburg High School. The top placing scores were selected for participation in the District Music Festivals, to be held during the month of November.

“Selection to the ILMEA All-District ensembles is a distinct and significant honor for a high school musician,” said Brayer Teague, Fine Arts Department Chairperson. “Our faculty is excited for these students who will now have the opportunity to collaborate with the most outstanding musicians in our region.”

Purdue Varsity Glee Club Concert

The DGN Chamber Choir was honored to share the stage with the Purdue Varsity Glee Club this past Saturday (10/7) night.  There were so many great sounds, and a great time was had by all.  We were especially happy to welcome back PVGC member and Purdue senior Erik Jensen to his Alma Mater!
