DGN's BOMB-ITTY Selected for Theatre Fest 2023!

DGN's 2022 Varsity Play, THE BOMB-ITTY OF ERRORS, has been selected through adjudication to be presented at the 2023 Illinois High School Theatre Festival. 

"This is a really big honor for our school," said DGN Director of Theatre, Mr. Ariel Mozes. "The selection is the equivalent of our theatre 'team' advancing to the highest levels of an athletic state tournament. I am so incredibly proud of our students."

The Illinois High School Theatre Festival is the largest event of its kind in the nation. Thousands of aspiring actors, designers, and students pursuing technical theatre arts will decend on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, January 12-14, 2023, for the festival. DGN's 'THE BOMB-ITTY OF ERRORS' will be presented twice on January 13, in the Foellinger Great Hall of the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, at the University of Illinois. 

Congratulations is extended to the entire company of DGN's 'BOMB-ITTY' for this prestigious honor!

DGN Musicians Earn 2022-23 All-State Honors

Twelve student musicians from Downers Grove North High School have earned All-State honors through the Illinois Music Education Association.  Students were selected to the All-State Band, All-State Chorus, All-State Orchestra and as an All-State Composer. All-State musicians will travel to Peoria, IL, from January 25 - 28, 2023 to participate in the Illinois Music Education Conference. 

Audition videos were submitted to the ILMEA, and all videos were adjudicated by a panel of professional musicians. The highest scoring musicians from across the State of Illinois have been tapped as All-State Musicians for 2022-23. 

“We are truly thrilled for these students and their families,” said Brayer Teague, Fine Arts Department Chair at North High.  “Many people helped these students achieve this success, beginning with their very first elementary school music teachers and extending to their private-lessons teachers today.  North High is very proud to have these incredible musicians representing District 99 at the All-State level, and we are excited they are now recognized alongside the very best musicians in the State of Illinois.”

D99/Downers Grove Public Library Art Show (2022)

2D and 3D work of District 99 art students is in exhibition at the Downers Grove Public Library. Drawings, paintings, photographs, ceramics, metalworks and mixed media pieces are featured in this collaborative show. 

Special thanks to the Downers Grove Public Library for partnering with D99 on this exhibition.  Congratulations to the participating students for being selected to have their work in exhibition during this show.  Thanks also to the visual art faculty from DG North and DG South for mentoring these talented students towards artistic success.

North High Theatre presents Student-Directed Winter One Acts, Nov. 17th - 19th at 7 PM in the Studio Theater (Room 248) at North High School (4436 Main Street, Downers Grove).

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students (outside D99), and free for D99 students with their school ID. Tickets can be purchased online at dgntheatre.com.

DGN Visual Artists Honored at Chicagoland 4x5 Exhibition

Bailey Mongello: "Holding It Together" - 1st Place, Sculpture

Dubbed the "largest small show in the nation," and dedicated to the memory of Fremd High School art teacher Lew Hubbard, the Chicagoland 4x5 High School Art Exhibition showcases student and faculty artists, forges connections and provides opportunities for student artists through a myriad of corporate and collegiate sponsors. All of the work in the exhibition must be within a 4x5 inch framework.
