DGN Bands to perform Final 2017-18 Concert on Thursday #WeAreDGN #99Learns

The final DGN Bands Concert of the 2017-18 academic year will take place on Thursday, May 10. The concert is FREE and begins at 7:00 PM in the Clarence Johnson Auditorium of North High School. Doors open for General Admission seating at 6:30 PM.

The program will feature the Concert Band and Symphonic Band, with soloists Chloe Mason (Oboe) and Ryan Knezevich (Trombone).

Out-of-town family and friends may view the concert live-stream on the DGN Fine Arts YouTube Channel. Video will also be available to view once the concert concludes. 

2018 DGN Band Banquet Celebrates Amazing Students and Family

The 2018 DGN Band Banquet - held at Ashyana in Downers Grove - brought together 450 members of the band family to celebrate another extremely successful year.

Special thanks are extended to the many parent volunteers who created a spectacular event, most notably Ms. Julie Thompson, Ms. Doreen Covey and  Ms. Heather Pleune (Banquet Co-Chairs), and Ms. Diane Duncan (Raffle/Auction Chair).

The students and faculty of the Fine Arts Department and the DGN Bands gratefully acknowledge the participation by families in the 2018 Band Raffle/Silent Auction. The money raised in support of the DGN Bands will go a long way in providing impactful experiences for our student musicians. 

DGN FOFA 2018 Plant Sale

Thanks to our DGN Friends of Fine Arts parents and students for their terrific work on the 2018 Plant Sale!

Special appreciation is extended to Mrs. Harker and Mrs. Pike for their coordination of the sale and all of the energy they have contributed to this fundraiser for several years.

District 99 Orchestra Spring Concert #99Learns #WeAreDGN

Congratulations to the student musicians in the District 99 Concert Orchestra and the District 99 Symphonic Orchestra for preparing and presenting an outstanding Spring Concert.  Both ensembles played a challenging program of repertoire with artistry and fluency. The patrons in the hall were especially impressed by the full orchestra performance of Overture to Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg by Richard Wagner, as well as the outstanding solos presented by seniors Joseph Delorto (viola) and Cecilia Kowara (soprano).

Special kudos and congratulations to the D99 Orchestra members of the Class of 2018 - we will miss you and thank you for your dedication to our orchestra program.  We expect you all to join us this time next year, as alumni, to perform The Final Countdown. We also extend a hearty welcome home to all the alumni in attendance tonight - it was great to see you all!

DGN Visual Artists Featured in Spring Art Exhibition #WeAreDGN #99Learns

Over 600 works of visual art, created by talented DGN Visual Art students, is currently on display in the Main Street Lobby of North High. Congratulations to all of the featured artists, as well as their mentor teachers (Ms. Bernard, Ms. Bican, Mr. Hoering and Mr. Voelker) for the exceptional artistry and craftsmanship displayed through these magnificent works.

 

The Comedy of Errors - This Week at DGN! #WeAreDGN #99Learns

The DGN Theatre Program is proud to present the Studio Theatre production of William Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors. The play, one of Shakespeare's earliest, is also his shortest and most farcical comedies, with a major part of the humor coming from slapstick and mistaken identity. The Comedy of Errors tells the story of two sets of identical twins who were accidentally separated at birth. 

Join us on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday for a 5:00 PM curtain. Students are free with District 99 ID. Other students are $5, and adults are $10. We would love to have you as a part of our audience!

Winter Guard Showcase Tops Off Successful Season!

Congratulations to the members of the Winter Guard for a successful 2018 campaign. The team finished "Top 3" at every competition they entered this year, including the circuit Championships. 

Thank you to the family and friends who came out to support the team on Friday night at the season finale, the Winter Guard Showcase. After a final performance of this season's show, guard members invited their family and friends to re-create their routines.
