DGN Fine Arts Salutes the Class of 2017!

The DGN Fine Arts Department extends a heartfelt congratulations and bids a fond farewell to the North High School Class of 2017.  Specifically, we acknowledge the artists in sight and in sound who set high standards throughout their academic journey and leave behind a legacy of high achievement and artistic excellence.  

We wish you each great success in your future endeavors, and encourage you to return to your Alma Mater and visit frequently!

Mrs. Leslie Miller retires today from the Downers Grove North High School Fine Arts Department, and Community High School District 99, after 14 years of dedicated and inspired teaching. Mrs. Miller has consistently set the professional bar at the highest artistic level, and motivated both students and faculty alike to always aspire for excellence. 

Mrs. Miller, we will miss your smile, your passion for students, and your collaborative spirit. We wish you all the best as you enter this next chapter of your life, and thank you for your innumerable contributions to North High.

The DGN Fine Arts Department wishes a fond farewell to Visual Art teacher Mrs. Megan Kelly, who has served on the faculty of North High School for the past thirteen years. Mrs. Kelly is transitioning into a new teaching position in her home town of Geneva, IL, where she will join the faculty of Geneva High School in the fall of 2017.

Mrs. Kelly, thank you for your dedication to the students of the DGN Fine Arts Department for so many years, and best wishes for continued professional success!

DGN Sophomore Lucie Boyd - New Philharmonic Young People's Concerto Competition

Congratulations to sophomore violist Lucie Boyd for being selected as a winner of the New Philharmonic Orchestra Young People's Concerto Competition. Lucie was selected to perform with the New Philharmonic Orchestra after a competitive and rigorous audition process.

Lucie will perform with the New Philharmonic Orchestra on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 7:30 PM at the McAnich Arts Center on the campus of the College of DuPage.

"Lucie is distinguishing herself as an accomplished musician, and this accolade is one of many recent successes she has enjoyed. She was selected to the ILMEA All State Orchestra earlier this year, and performs with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras. We are proud of her for being recognized as an outstanding soloist through this prestigious competition," said Brayer Teague, North High Fine Arts Department Chairperson.

Early Bird Music Final Class at Omega

Continuing a 20+ year tradition, DGN's "Early Bird" music courses (AP Music Theory, Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz Lab Band) held their final class of he year off-campus. Thanks to the staff at Omega for serving our students efficiently and with a smile!
